Bought A Licence?
Dear Agony Uncle,
I’m ashamed to say, but I bought my licence and now I feel trapped.
At first I couldn’t wait to just get my hands on a licence and I didn’t care how I got it. If I had to fail a couple of times my dad assured me that he would help me buy a licence so I can drive the car he bought for me.
Today I was in a small accident and when the cops asked for my licence I handed it over and hoped that they wouldn’t notice how I was sweating. I can’t park properly, still get very anxious in traffic and a number of other things too.
Can a person do their licence again? I’d like to do it legally this time even if it turns out to be a long process.
Dear Anonymous,
Thank you for your honesty.
No, unfortunately you can’t do it again unless you hand yourself over to Metro and confess that you bought your licence. After dealing with all the legal implications you may just be very lucky IF they agree to re-test you.
Such is the outcome of an unfavourable decision you took that would regrettably haunt you. Every time you go through a road block, every time you lay eyes on a cop, the same feelings of guilt and shame will well up inside you.
I wish everybody would just realise that the government is not so fast asleep as they think. They just have a huge task and they are constantly pulling the net tighter around the syndicates and Lone Licence Rangers out there.
Here is something to think about: have a look at this, and this, and this, and this, and this, and this. There’s always amnesty for the holders of fake licences so if the chance comes around again – jump to the front of the cue!
It sounds like you realise that buying a licence is just simply not worth the torment you’re going through. You, I still have a few grains of respect for. Others will never get the faintest twinge of guilt at all and these are the people I seriously worry about even more.
Agony Uncle
