Darwin on two wheels?
A while ago I felt sincere sympathy for a guy on a motorcycle that seemed to have a mother of an itch on his hip and I thought how uncomfortable this must be trying to handle his bike, what with the controls in your hands.
To my shock and horror, when I later caught up with this dude I saw what his itch was all about – he was grappling his cell phone to send a text message! I simply couldn’t help myself and gestured that what he was doing was dangerous. Gathering from the gesture I got back he was not impressed with me questioning his “right” to kill himself…and others.
But there’s more….
Since that incident I recently also read about another guy doing the same thing, also on a motorcycle….at 120km/h!!!!
Is this a trend developing?
Now really, how seriously does one person want to be in touch…with life…or the experience of losing it?
I can not imagine giving these dudes the Darwin Award – they’re simply not an indicator of man’s evolvement. This is regression at its worst!
Fact is: Bikes don’t kill people – PEOPLE DO!
