Too Much Pressure!
Dear Agony Uncle,
Driving instruction is expensive and my parents have paid a lot of money already.
My problem is that I’ve lost some interest in driving due to the exams and my schedule is very tight.
My dad thinks it is my driving instructor’s fault but I’m actually just too scared to tell him that he is putting too much pressure on me and it’s worse now.
What should I do?

Dear Anonymous,
I know driving instruction is expensive, specially when you get hold of a good one. It is always better to pay a little more rather than getting what you pay for.
It seems that your loss of interest is really a dad-issue and not so much the driving as such. Depends what your relationship with your dad is like, so you’ll know best when to approach him.
What I suggest you do is find a peaceful moment and address the issue. He may get a little upset at first but I’m sure he’ll understand. If it is that he wants you to be mobile as soon as possible I can understand that too. Ask him nicely to consider your feelings and that you share exactly the same plan but that you will cope better if he lets up on the pressure a bit.
You don’t mention if you’ve been relaxing the whole year and now expect less pressure at the 11th hour. This could be the reason for your dad getting so urgent in his demands. Try and sort things out without a heated battle of wills and once you show your commitment dads normally let up all by themselves.
Hope that helps.
Agony Uncle
